Dallas McPherson putting a sting in the Stingers Posted by: Halofan26 on Wednesday, July 07, 2004 - 08:59 AM |

For those of you that dont know me, I am a HUGE Angel fan and probably the most knowledgeable Angel fan that ever was created. I have watched the Angels since 1979 when i was 3 and i have seen many rookies come into the farm and blow right out. Dennis Rasmussen (Padre fame), the beloved Dick Schofield (all field, no hit, great guy), Bob Kipper (Pirate fame), Mark Doran (1st round flame out), John Orton (next Johnny Bench? i think not), Kyle Abbott (pffft), and of course, let's not forget Phil Leftwich! Now lately the Angels have pulled some diamonds out of the draft. Kotchman, McPherson, Woods, Erstad, Glaus, Anderson, Salmon, Washburn, Bootcheck, Jenks, Mathis, Wood and lets not forget our own personal "dirtbag" Jared Weaver (as yet to sign). The 2nd round of 2001 brought us a player in Dallas McPherson that has made the pick of Kotchman look strange in my eyes as to why we didnt take Dallas first and Casey in the 2nd round? Dallas is hitting a combined .332 with 26 homers and 93 RBI and if you want, throw in the 20 doubles, 9 triples and 8 steals. The Angel farm system is one of the best and aside from Milwaukee's i think it is the best. Dallas needs to get the hell out of Salt Lake City and get on the freeway heading towards Orange County. I am not one to rush a player and i held myself back by saying that maybe we should give Dallas a call up after the trade deadline and see what he can do. Well the time is now, forget the damn deadline, get him in Anaheim NOW. No knock on Figgins (2nd favortie Angel) and a personal knock to Halter (go back to Detroit), but he deserves a call up. All i can say is the New York who? Oakland? Bah, you dont have anything on us. I watched your farm system for the last 6 years also and besides Harden and Crosby, im not impressed. Texas has an impressive farm in the hitting dept. but still no pitching above AA and that means at least 2 more years before the Rangers get those players. Seattle? Sorry guys but besides Ichiro, Boone and Choo (AA) you have very little. The pitching in the Seattle farm isnt bad but once they leave AA they begin to get a little wild and there is only 2 or 3 pitchers i even thought would be worth a damn in the Seattle farm. Sorry guys, but with the recent signings, draft and current farm, the Angels wont be the bottom feeders of the AL West anymore and the days of "oh know, we have to face the 'Big Three' in Oakland" are coming down to a minimum as Zito got rocked last night and has been getting rockes since he won the Cy Young award. The Angels can hit LHP (.268 as a team) and they can hit against Oakland (.255) so im convinced. |
